 SHITO-RYU KARATE-DO INTERNATIONAL

– SHUYOUKAN –

Shito-ryu Karate is a traditional style of Japanese martial arts that emphasises a balanced approach to techniques, incorporating both hard and soft movements. It was founded by Kenwa Mabuni in the early 20th century. The term “Shito-ryu” reflects Mabuni’s integration of techniques from various martial arts styles, including Shotokan and Shorin-ryu. Shito-ryu Karate places importance on both kata (pre-arranged forms) and kumite (sparring), promoting physical fitness, self-discipline, and character development among its practitioners.

Benefits of Karate include:

Our program cultivates both physical and mental strength through focused training, promoting concentration, discipline, and integrity. Participants develop increased self-confidence, motivation, and team-building skills while honing speed, coordination, and a strong mind-body connection.

What Age Group do we cater to?

Our Karate program caters to a wide range of ages, including a specialised class for 4 to 6-year-olds, where foundational skills are gently introduced through age-appropriate activities. For ages 6 to 10, classes are split based on belt levels, ensuring tailored training to individual abilities, fostering character development alongside physical and mental growth. Students in this age group gain essential life skills and develop confidence and a positive attitude through enjoyable martial arts experiences.

The 11 to 14-year-old program focuses on disciplined training in Shito-Ryu, instilling values of focus, determination, and leadership, emphasising the importance of consistent effort in achieving success. Adults, aged 15 and above, engage in regular training sessions alongside peers, fostering mental and physical well-being and strength in a supportive environment.
