Dominic and Lisa Sculli form an exemplary husband-and-wife team at the heart of BTB Martial Arts and Fitness Centre. With a combined passion for martial arts that spans decades, they bring a wealth of experience and expertise to their roles within the organisation. Together, they create a dynamic duo that not only excels in their individual capacities but also collaborates seamlessly to enrich the martial arts community. Their commitment extends beyond the dojo, encompassing coaching, officiating, and promoting overall fitness. With a shared vision and dedication, the Scullis epitomise a harmonious partnership, leaving a lasting impact on the BTB community.

Dominic Sculli

Dominic Sculli, the Chief Instructor of Shito-Ryu Karate-Do International and President of BTB Martial Arts and Fitness Centre, embarked on his martial arts journey in 1983 with a focus on Shito-Ryu Shuyoukan. Throughout the 1980s, he actively participated in tournaments and honed his skills overseas, interstate, and under the guidance of prominent instructors such as Shihan Yoneda in Japan, the Shito-Ryu Karate Association in Singapore, and training experiences in Vanuatu, the West Indies, and the United States. Despite his competitive pursuits, Shihan Dominic commenced his teaching career in 1990 while continuing to deepen his understanding of the technical aspects of Karate and Martial Arts. Recognised as a Karate Referee “A” by the World Karate Federation, Dominic Sculli’s extensive credentials include an 8th Dan Blackbelt in Shito-Ryu Karate-Do Shuyoukan, an 8th Dan from the Australian Karate Federation, and a Certificate of Title to SHIHAN bestowed by Soke Yoneda. Dominic also holds a 2nd Dan in Matayoshi Kubudo, 1st Dan in Judo and a Black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Apart from his impressive martial arts achievements, Shihan Dominic is a Government Accredited Coach with the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS Gold), acknowledged by the Australian Sports Commission. His role extends beyond the dojo, as he has served as a former Victorian Head Coach in Kata, and holds memberships in key national committees, such as the Australian Karate Federation National Referee Commission and Victorian Referee Commission (former). Additionally, he possesses a Diploma in Fitness, certifications as a Personal Trainer, First Aid qualifications, and a Working with Children card. Shihan Dominic Sculli’s commitment to the martial arts community is evident in his role as a teacher at the headquarters of Shito-Ryu Karate-Do International, situated in East Keilor at BTB Martial Arts & Fitness Centre.

Lisa Sculli
Lisa Sculli, serving as the Senior Instructor of Shito-Ryu Karate-Do International Shuyoukan, boasts an impressive martial arts background. With a 6th Dan Blackbelt in Shito-Ryu Karate-Do Shuyoukan recognised by the Australian Karate Federation, she stands as a seasoned practitioner in the art. Lisa is not only a proficient martial artist but also a dedicated coach, holding a Government Accredited Coach title with KIA Gold recognition from the Australian Sports Commission. Her commitment to officiating is evident through her Oceania Kata Judge “A” and Kumite Referee “A”.

Lisa Sculli’s qualifications extend beyond the realm of karate, showcasing her dedication to holistic fitness. As a Certified Personal Trainer with certifications in Certificate III and Certificate IV in Fitness, she possesses the expertise to guide others on their fitness journeys. Her academic pursuits in fitness include a Diploma in Fitness, underscoring her comprehensive knowledge and commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle. With First Aid certification and a Working with Children Check from the Department of Justice in Victoria, Lisa Sculli stands as a well-rounded martial artist and fitness professional, contributing significantly to the Shito-Ryu Karate-Do International community.
